Option #2: Get Creative!
Construct your own poem, political cartoon, short essay, or song that shows your knowledge of the Erie Canal. Your presentation must include at least three ways in which the creation of the Erie Canal affected New York State as a whole, along with at least two ways in which the Erie Canal affected you personally. Use as many details and facts as possible in your explanations. OR, you may focus your project on the changes the creation of the Erie Canal brought forth to society (Before and After). If you choose this option, be sure to include at least five examples of changes. OR, you may focus your project on the importance of the Erie Canal, including five reasons that the Erie Canal was important, and five reasons that it is or is not important today!

Option # 4: Your Own Erie Canal!
Based on the websites below, design your very own Erie Canal! Draw a picture of what you would have designed the Erie Canal to look like, in 1817! Then, write why you would have designed the Erie Canal differently or the same based on the information in the websites below! Be sure to design your Erie Canal in a way that would make sense, not just a way that would be cool!
